Flying to Paro. So the flight into Paro has a reputation for being both breathtaking and hair-raising in equal measures. You can fly in from Kathmandu, Delhi or Bangkok, but the flights aren’t daily and can often be delayed or leave early as landing in Paro can only be done with clear weather and non-crazy winds. Leaving the tropics of Bangkok you first hit gentle ripples of the foothills of the himalayas, and then before you know it you’re right in there, barely scraping the mountaintops. As the flight gets ready to land, the captain reassures you that the plane will bank sharply twice on the way in to land and that it’s all to be expected. I actually didn’t find the ride in too crazy at all, here’s the video to set nervous minds to rest:
